Great information, I am an architectural photographer and still resort to the 4x5 sometimes when it suits my personal pleasure.

I greatly use large format cameras, this helped a great deal with comparing both digital and large format cameras. Cheers Jamie

Great comparison but the results aren't very surprising using a 40D in the digital role. I think that the 5D MK II test will be even more interesting although I fully expect the 5D MKII to fall short as well. I'd be interested to see how using a 5D MKII and super resolution techniques (tilt-shift lens and Photoacute) would compare to the 4x5. Might not be its equal but I bet it'd be getting respectably closer. I'd also like to see how a proper large/medium format digital compares to 4x5 film.

Great post, and using a 4x5 camera for your architectural photography is great, not many architectural photographers do so.
